EL TARRO presents 'you got to live with it' 17-18 December 2011

EL TARRO is proud to present 'You got to live with it' - a black comedy with just a splash of words mixing Spanish and English. International production from Spain. A piece for adults but children enjoy it as well. Performed by Leticia Etala (Canary Islands), Laura De Arcos (Born in Catalonia with Andalusian origins) and directed by Beatriz Alfonso (Venezuela).


Saturday 17 at 7.30pm and Sunday 18 at 3.30pm and 7.30 pm December 2011.

About the artists:


Leticia Etala
Bachelor in Drama  at ESADT Madrid (University of Kent). During 2007 combines studies with the company Fándula Al-Habima Theatre working with them in the play "Notas", and receiving the “best actress award” at the Sixth Edition of the Festival de Teatro de San Juan Evangelista. Then she moved to New York to study for a year “Acting for film” at the New York Film Academy School. During 2009 attends to the Laboratory School Jacques Lecoq in Paris.
In 2010 live 3 months in Buenos Aires, where she participates in the show "Freak Brothers" and in Bululu Theater with “esquech cómico”. Her studies continue with an intensive workshop with Clodet "Theatre and Ritual". In television RTVE has worked in the children's program "The Conciertazo" 2003


Laura De Arcos
Born in Catalonia but with Andalusian origins. Graduated in physical theater by RESAD (Madrid). She has a strong background in classical dance, which has recently allowed her to participate in the oriental dance show "Drom" Cia. Fenicia. She specializes in teaching body language under the title of Schinca Studio.
Is part of the company “La tribu imaginaria” since 2007, having worked as an actress in "Women at the Tomb," "Magdalena Pornostar" and "Family Portrait." Laura is currently researching about women's bodies on stage, pursuing a master's degree in Women's History at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid

Beatriz Afonso
Born in Venezuela, arrived in Spain in 2003 and got a Bachelor in Drama in 2007 at ESADT, Madrid (University of Kent). The same year she founded the theater company Áncora, and directed the play "Psychosis 4.48" by Sarah Kane, "Cabaret Diphuso" inspired on the text Patty Diphusa by Pedro Almodovar, and participated as a performer in "El amor de Don Perlimplín con Belisa en su jardín" by Federico G. Lorca. She complements her training with courses in Anthropology of Movement and Clown.

'An effective and deeply provocative evocation of a very real contemporary horror' John Bailey, The Age

3 years ago, a performance that turned the benign and magical carlton gardens playground into a landscape of war was premiered at night time by 9 children between 6 and 13 years old and a handful of adults. it transformed the benign and magical carlton gardens playground in melbourne into a landscape of war.

The performance was filmed.

On Saturday November 5 at 8:30pm you are invited to the launch of play:ground film in response to the original show premiered in 2008.

This performance tried to bring awareness and raise issues about the situation of child soldiers around the world and specifically in Colombia.

EL TARRO, the smallest performing space in the world invites you to be part of a collective experiment of live performance and art inspired on the floating connections between the streets of Latin America and Melbourne as part of a massive Carnival that will take place on Friday October 7 at Shed 4 in Docklands.

Latin America streets are always busting with unexpected situations, some say chaotic, some say vibrating. We want to recreate with you a similar experience, a tribute to the street, where every Melbournian is welcomed to bring unresolved, out of the norm ideas, images, tastes, objects, moves or boneshaking!

These small performing spaces will explode simultaneously alongside food carts, big issue vendors, fruit stalls, market stalls, parades and much more.

The inspiration is the street.
